It started in a small, sun-baked village school, where a whispered confession broke my heart. A bright-eyed girl told me she missed school every month. Not because she was ill, but because she was ashamed. She used rags, feared stains, and hid herself away. Her potential was being washed away, not by water, but by silence. That day, period poverty stopped being a statistic for me. It had a face.
This is the raw reality TGF India was born to fight. Our core aim was never just about handing out pads. It was to wage a war on two fronts: against the tangible lack of access to safe products, and against the deep, corrosive silence of shame that isolates millions. We began in community halls and schoolyards, holding sessions where words like “period” were spoken aloud, where myths were dismantled, and where free, reliable products were provided with dignity, not discretion.
But a new truth soon emerged. In one village, an elder showed us a ditch behind the homes—clotted with discarded plastic pads. Our solution was creating a new problem. The ‘Aha!’ moment was painful, then powerful. We asked: What if our cure didn’t harm the earth? What if menstrual care was truly healthcare—holistic, sustainable, and respectful of both body and planet?
This led to the birth of our Period Healthcare model. We shifted from just supplying to educating and innovating. We introduced eco-friendly, reusable options, set up local, women-run production units for biodegradable pads, and taught sustainable disposal. It became a circle: education dismantling taboos, access providing dignity, and sustainability protecting the future.
The change I now witness is my oxygen. I see girls who once hid, now leading school health clubs. I see women, once beneficiaries, now becoming eco-pad entrepreneurs. For individuals seeking purpose, TGF India offers a bridge—a way to translate social responsibility into direct action, whether through funding a school program, volunteering in education, or advocating for policy change. It’s a living ecosystem of dignity.
This entire journey from a single story to a systemic, green solution is the very essence of social entrepreneurship. It’s about seeing the whole picture, listening deeply, and innovating fearlessly.
