Every time I bring up POCSO training for corporate employees, someone asks me, “Rohini, why would a B2B SaaS company need child safety training?”
My answer: because children enter your workplace more often than you think.
If your company has any of these – a daycare, interns under 18, school outreach programs, or even a “Bring Your Kid to Work” day – then the POCSO Act applies to you. And most HR leaders have no idea.
Let me tell you about a case I consulted on last year. A well-meaning employee took photos during a “Bring Your Kid to Work” event and posted them on LinkedIn. In the background of one photo, a child was in a vulnerable situation that had nothing to do with the workplace. That photo became evidence in a family court custody battle. The company had no POCSO training, no photography policy, and no idea they could be held liable.
I now offer a 90-minute POCSO module specifically for corporate HR and ICC teams. We cover mandatory reporting, digital safety for minors, and how to handle a disclosure without retraumatizing the child.
Here is what I want every employer to understand: POSH protects your adult employees. POCSO protects the children who visit your office. Both belong in your policy. Ignorance is not innocence – it is liability.
